From I am a NYC artist devoted to ceramics and painting. I have shown extensively in NY and I am included in the Metropolitan Museum of Art Collection among others. Since a young age I have been drawn to creating art beginning with drawing and print making. While visiting Alfred University early in my art education I was sparked by ceramics and have not turned back. 12 years ago I began painting landscapes that eventually evolved into still lifes with florals. Inspired by artists such as Morandi, Henri Fantin-Latour and Manet, my paintings tie in with the pottery objects and vases I create in my studio.I draw from the rich tradition of the past while still keeping a contemporary sensibility.
For two decades, I have tended to a public garden on west 52nd St. in Manhattan where I grow most of the flowers I paint. The color, form, and textures in the garden find their way into my paintings and the flowers find their way into my vessels. At Present I am teacher at the Greenwich House Pottery Studio in NYC. Through teaching, I find a joy and a satisfaction in fostering a creative environment for artistic growth for others. My roles as an artist, ceramicist, painter, educator and a gardener create a thread that weaves through my creative practice.
