I studied pre-medical anatomy in the 70s in Maine: tested on drawing and labeling the human skeleton.Schooled in the Joseph Albers Color Theory in the 70s by 1980 I was engaged in a monochromatic basis for my practice.I have maintained studios in Maine, New York, Madrid and the Spanish Mediterranean. My travels to North Africa, Tangiers, Marrakesh and the near Orient have left an indelible sense of what lays beyond Europe, let alone North America.

I am happiest painting. You must understand that when the brush leaves a mark one has entered another world. “The shadow across her face reminds me of something I saw in the Black Sea that afternoon and the brush has a shiny, twisted sheen when I
set it down from painting her eye brow”… Sometimes you can say a lot with very, very little.
